A University of California Initiative
connecting campuses, communities, and places
As a cultural practice placemaking values diversity and equity, providing access to those often underrepresented or excluded from public process. placemaking also recognizes the catalytic role of artists and designers in the making of place. We aim to support and amplify the public, place-based research of our UC artists, designers and media practicioners who are working across fields in collaboration with multiple stakeholders to enact social change. This work strives to address the UC's fundamental public research mission and its commitment to scholarship that directly serves the interests of California's diverse publics.
